Keynote Speaker

CAL is delighted to announce that our Keynote Speaker for CALCON 2025 is Shelley Read.

Shelley Read's debut novel, Go as a River, is an international bestseller translated into thirty-four languages and in development for film. Winner of the High Plains Book Award for Fiction and the Reading the West Book Award for Debut Fiction, her work has received national and international acclaim.

Shelley was an award-winning senior lecturer at Western Colorado University for nearly three decades and is a fifth-generation Coloradan who lives with her family in the Elk Mountains of Colorado's Western Slope.

The CAL Awards program recognizes excellence in library service, innovation, and leadership. We encourage nominations for individuals, libraries, and programs that have demonstrated exceptional impact in their communities. The CAL Awards lunch will be held on Thursday, September 4 at 12:15 PM.
