Welcome Desk

As a welcome desk volunteer, you will likely be attendees’ first point of contact at CALCON. Your job will be to greet attendees as they approach your table, give them their name badge and any other materials, and provide directions or answers to questions as needed.

We will provide you with a map of the venue. Familiarize yourself with the key locations of conference events (ballroom, exhibit hall, breakout session rooms) and be able to direct attendees as needed. 

 

Breakout Host

As a breakout host volunteer, you will:

• Arrive at the room you are volunteering in 15 minutes before the sessions start

• Make contact with the speakers

• Make sure the speakers have everything they need

• Assist the speakers in setting up the tech. If tech help is needed beyond what you can troubleshoot, call the Tech Help number. 

• Clear any leftover handouts on the tables from the last session 

 

Deep Dive Host

As a deep dive host volunteer, you will:

• Arrive at the room you are volunteering in 15 minutes before the sessions start

• Make contact with the speakers

• Make sure the speakers have everything they need

• Assist the speakers in setting up the tech. If tech help is needed beyond what you can troubleshoot, call the Tech Help number. 

• Clear any leftover handouts on the tables from the last session 

 

Breakout AV/Tech Help

• Be available for basic troubleshooting and tech help for session speakers.

• If tech help is needed beyond what you can troubleshoot, call the conference Tech Help number.

 

Keynote Q&A Help

This volunteer will assist during the Keynote speaker's Q&A session to ensure that audience members have a microphone to ask questions.

 

Book Flapper

This volunteer position will assist with the book signing following the Keynote speech. You will help keep the line running and get books ready for the Keynote Speaker to sign.
