     Vendors

The 2013 Colorado Legislature included an appropriation of $2 million in the state’s budget bill to fund the State Grants to Libraries Act (CRS 24-90-401). The Funding Allocation Chart showing what eligible libraries would receive if applying can be found at http://www.cde.state.co.us/cdelib/StateGrants.htm. An FAQ on the site offers additional information.

Applications will be available in September 2013. Funding is scheduled to begin in October. All funds must be spent by June 30, 2014. The State Grants to Libraries will be available to eligible school districts for use in libraries for buying qualifying educational materials that support or enhance opportunities for early literacy and early learning.

This funding means that every libary in Colorado will be looking closely at what additional items and services would be benefical for their extra funding dollars.  The deadline for funding applications is October and libraries will begin receiving money in November/December.
